Firefighters quickly contained a commercial structure fire Sunday afternoon after a vehicle caught fire inside a shop on Route 34.
The Matawan Fire Department was dispatched to 938 Route 34 at about 12:30 p.m. following reports of a structure fire.
Firefighters stretched hose lines and forced entry into the building. Once inside, crews determined a vehicle had caught fire and worked to contain it.
Officials say the fire was quickly extinguished before it could cause significant damage to the rest of the building.
No injuries were immediately reported. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
