Toddler found unresponsive in pool at Mastic Beach home

A family member removed the child from the water and began performing CPR before emergency responders arrived at the scene.

Suffolk County Police detectives are investigating after a toddler was found unresponsive in a swimming pool at a Mastic Beach residence Monday afternoon.

According to police, a 2-year-old girl was discovered unresponsive in a pool at her home on Mill Drive at approximately 4:50 p.m yesterday. A family member removed the child from the water and began performing CPR before emergency responders arrived at the scene.

The toddler was transported by ambulance to NYU Langone Hospital–Suffolk in Patchogue in critical condition. She was later transferred to Stony Brook University Hospital for further treatment.

Suffolk County Police said Seventh Squad detectives are continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident.
