News 12’s Down the Shore straps in as the roar of engines continues to draw fans to Wall Stadium, a Jersey Shore tradition now in its 76th year.

Known as "The Roar at the Shore," the historic track has spent decades entertaining racing enthusiasts and crowning champion drivers.

News 12’s Jim Murdoch reports the action is fast and intense, with drivers navigating one of the most unique short tracks in the region.

"The drivers race differently," said Wall Stadium announcer Earl Krause. "This is more of a handling, like a finesse track, because things happen so quickly."

Over the years, the speed of the track has led to some dramatic crashes, but drivers continue returning to test their skills against the competition.

Krause says one of the track's defining features is its steep banking.

"It's the high banks," he said. "Thirty degrees of banking, and that is very rare for a short track."

Success at Wall Stadium requires more than just speed.

"Drivers have to think two, three corners ahead," Krause said. "It's a combination of driving fast and also driving with your head, picking out your moves."
