Ossining Back-to-School Festival helps families get ready for new school year
This year, more than 350 pairs of sneakers and 300 backpacks filled with school supplies were distributed to students as part of the Back-to-School Festival.
Hundreds of families gathered at Nelson Park for the Ossining Collective's second annual Back-to-School Festival on Saturday with the new school year around the corner.
This year, more than 350 pairs of sneakers and 300 backpacks filled with school supplies were distributed to students as part of the Back-to-School Festival.
The Ossining Collective, made up of the Ossining Youth Bureau, Kindle Community Incorporated and Star of Bethlehem Baptist Church, partnered with local organizations to support families as they prepare for the upcoming school year.
Community groups including Hope's Door and the American Red Cross also attended to connect residents with local services.
Organizers say the event is about more than school supplies. It's also about bringing the community together and helping students start the year feeling supported.
