Wedding season is in full swing, and one internationally renowned bridal designer is creating dream dresses right here in New Jersey.
Sareh Nouri’s elegant bridal and evening gowns, designed and crafted in her Rutherford studio, have become sought-after designs for brides around the world.
Bolts of fabric, intricate lace and carefully crafted patterns come together to bring each gown to life. But Nouri’s journey into bridal fashion began with a challenge of her own.
“I was getting married myself. I couldn’t find a dress that I loved at the time,” Nouri said. “I lived in the Washington, D.C., area and found a dressmaker. I had a sketch of a dress, and it all started from there.”
What began with her own wedding dress has grown into a successful business that has designed bridal and evening gowns for clients worldwide for the past 13 years.
Twice a year, Nouri creates new collections inspired by carefully selected fabrics and textiles.
“The most fun part, and actually the biggest part, is picking out the fabrics and the textiles,” she said. “You get hundreds of options, and you really have to decide what the inspiration is for the season, and we go from there.”
Each gown is individually crafted by a single dressmaker from start to finish, rather than being assembled through a piecework process. From pattern-making and cutting to fittings and quality control, every dress receives personalized attention.
Today, Nouri and her team produce more than 200 dresses each month. Despite that volume, originality remains at the heart of every design.
“It is one of the most important garments and the most important moments for a bride,” Nouri said. “So it just makes me feel very special.”
Surrounded by silk, lace and craftsmanship, Nouri and her team continue to create gowns designed for one of life’s most memorable occasions, transforming wedding-day dreams into reality.
