Orange County sheriff files suit against state ban on local police assisting ICE

The Orange County sheriff has joined 14 other sheriffs in a federal lawsuit against the state’s ban on local police assisting Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents.
On Tuesday, Gov. Kathy Hochul announced the ban would take effect immediately.
It would also force the termination of federal housing agreements by Nov. 25.
In a statement, the governor’s office called the suit “a frivolous waste of taxpayer dollars.”
