A 28-year-old man was killed and two other people were injured after a three-alarm fire spread between two Yonkers homes Wednesday morning.
The fire broke out around 6 a.m. at 13 Cedar St., a three-story wood-frame building, according to fire officials.
While firefighters were responding, dispatchers received multiple reports of flames coming from the structure.
The first crews on scene found heavy fire and launched an aggressive interior attack and search.
Officials said the fire had already spread to the neighboring building at 15 Cedar St. by the time firefighters arrived.
A 28-year-old man was removed from the original fire building and later died, officials said.
Two other people from the same building were taken to the hospital with injuries.
All of the victims were inside the first building, where the fire originated.
Officials said no one was inside the neighboring building when the fire spread.
Firefighters were able to contain the blaze to the two structures and knock down the main body of the fire.
Most of the damage was concentrated in the rear portions of the buildings, according to officials.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
