The New York City Department of Health (DOH) has expanded its community outreach for a Legionnaires’ disease cluster in the South Bronx to include two additional ZIP codes.

On Sunday, Notify NYC issued an alert adding 10455 and 10459 after cases were identified within a few blocks of 10456.

The investigation initially focused on parts of Melrose and Morrisania in ZIP codes 10451 and 10456.

The NYC Health Department says 19 people have tested positive in connection with the cluster.

Four people are currently hospitalized, 11 have been discharged, two were not hospitalized and two people have died, according to the city's latest update.

Anyone who lives or works in the four affected ZIP codes, or who has visited the area since late August, is urged to contact a health care provider immediately if they develop flu-like symptoms such as fever, cough or difficulty breathing.

DOH began investigating the cluster on Sept. 10 after five cases and one death were initially identified in parts of Melrose and Morrisania.

The city will hold a virtual town hall for residents of ZIP codes 10451, 10455, 10456 and 10459 on Tuesday, Sept. 22 at 6 p.m.

Anyone who needs help finding a health care provider can call 311 or 844-NYC-4NYC (844-692-4692).
