Bronx man accused in 2 NYC killings indicted in deadly Brooklyn shooting

The Bronx man accused of killing two people in separate shootings just days apart has now been indicted in connection with the deadly Brownsville restaurant shooting.
Jesus Acosta, 31, was arraigned Monday on an 11-count indictment charging him with first- and second-degree murder, second-degree attempted murder, first-degree assault, first-degree attempted robbery and related charges, according to the Brooklyn District Attorney’s Office.
Prosecutors say Acosta entered American Best Wings & Pizza in Brownsville around 11:50 p.m. on Aug. 22 carrying a black plastic bag. He allegedly walked behind the counter and shot two employees, striking 44-year-old MD Yousuf in the torso and a 39-year-old man in the leg.
Prosecutors say Acosta then banged on the cash register with the gun in his hand before fleeing.
Yousuf, a husband and father of two, was taken to Brookdale Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
Acosta is also accused in the fatal shooting of 33-year-old Tayvvon Schuler during a robbery at a Bronx deli three days later.
Acosta was arrested on Aug. 29 following a weeklong manhunt.
He was arraigned the next day on the following charges: First- and second-degree murder, attempted murder, manslaughter, two counts of robbery, four counts of criminal possession of a weapon and resisting arrest.
An anonymous tip led officers to a Soundview park, where they took him into custody, according to police.
Acosta is being held without bail and is scheduled to return to court on Dec. 4.
