Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu landed at New York Stewart International Airport on Thursday morning ahead of his address to the United Nations General Assembly in Manhattan.
Multiple sources confirmed to News 12 that Netanyahu’s plane touched down shortly after 9 a.m.
The plane was seen on the tarmac at Stewart on Thursday morning, as increased security was visible outside the airport and along the New York State Thruway.
Netanyahu had previously been expected to land in New Jersey. Reports before his trip indicated his plane would arrive at a military airport there before he traveled to Manhattan.
The leader is making an unusually brief trip to New York. He is scheduled to address the U.N. General Assembly in Manhattan at around 2 p.m. Thursday and meet with several world leaders before returning to Israel. His office has not announced any meetings with U.S. officials during the visit.
Protests supporting and opposing Netanyahu are also planned near the United Nations during his visit.
