Families from across Orange County came together Wednesday in Monroe to celebrate Sukkot during Chabad of Orange County’s “Great Sukkot Harvest.”
Sukkot is a weeklong Jewish holiday centered on gratitude, harvest and community. One of its central traditions is spending time in a sukkah, a temporary outdoor shelter used during the holiday.
Families at the event took part in pony rides, miniature golf, a pumpkin patch and apple cider donut-making.

Guests also gathered inside Chabad’s sukkah and took part in the tradition of shaking the four kinds, a ritual associated with the holiday and the harvest season.
Organizers say the event was designed to give families a way to celebrate Jewish traditions while spending time together as a community.
