A family of critically endangered red wolves returned home to Westchester Tuesday.

Caroline and Jacques were transported from the Museum of Life and Sciences in North Carolina to the Wolf Conservation Center in South Salem, where the duo previously lived.

The pair were joined by the newest members of their family, 6-month-old pups Cane, Champ, Puck, Stormy and Whaler,

The transfer is part of a coordinated effort to preserve the endangered species. There are fewer than 20 red wolves in the wild.

The family's homecoming was made possible through Pilots To The Rescue, a nonprofit that transports at-risk animals, from under-resourced shelters to rescue and adoption centers where they can receive care, fostering and placement in their forever homes.
