A rapid response by firefighters helped contain a garage fire at a home in Chappaqua before it could spread throughout the structure.
The Chappaqua Fire Department and an engine from Pleasantville Fire Department were dispatched around 12:43 p.m. Tuesday for a reported garage fire.
Crews arrived to find smoke coming from a two-story detached garage. Firefighters stretched a second hose line to the second floor and conducted searches for fire extension and possible victims.
Officials say the fire was contained to the first floor. Crews also assisted with ladder deployment and overhaul operations.
Pleasantville firefighters remained on scene for about two hours before being released.
