Construction is underway at the Waller-Maple parking lot in White Plains, forcing the closure of a key downtown parking area used by visitors to nearby businesses and restaurants.
The lot closed Monday as rehabilitation work begins. City officials say the project is intended to improve safety and rehabilitate the parking area, though an estimated timeline for completion has not been released.

The closure marks at least the third major parking facility shutdown in White Plains within the past year. The privately owned garage at 50 Hale Ave. closed after suffering a partial structural collapse, while the Lexington-Grove West garage also shut down one year ago this month.
The Waller-Maple lot serves businesses along Mamaroneck Avenue, including Hudson Grille, Lilly's and Brazen Fox.
City officials say several alternative parking options remain available, including the Lyon Place Garage across the street, the City Center and Library garages, other municipal garages and downtown street parking.
News 12 has reached out to the city for additional details about the project and is awaiting a response.
