A person was killed in a multi-vehicle crash on the New York State Thruway in White Plains, shutting down lanes and an entrance ramp for several hours.
The crash happened Monday afternoon on the westbound side of the Thruway near Exit 6. Video from the scene showed a black SUV overturned on its side and a State Department of Transportation vehicle taped off along the roadway. Several emergency responders and DOT vehicles were also at the scene.
The right and center lanes were closed for hours following the crash, and the Exit 6 entrance ramp was also shut down. All lanes and ramps have since reopened.
Authorities have not released the identity of the person who was killed or said what caused the crash.
While reports have circulated that a DOT worker may have been involved, that information has not been confirmed. State Police and Thruway officials have not yet released additional details.
