Thousands of visitors are expected to pack the streets of Tarrytown Friday evening for the village's annual Halloween parade, prompting a series of road and parking closures throughout the day.
Event organizers estimate more than 15,000 spectators will attend the popular parade, which draws Halloween fans from across the region and beyond.
Several areas are already closed to parking, including North Broadway between Patriots Park and College Avenue, as well as the South Washington Street parking lot.
Additional road closures will take effect later in the day, impacting Main Street and portions of South Washington Street and Broadway.
The parade begins at Patriots Park before traveling south along Broadway and west along Main Street through downtown Tarrytown.
Many visitors have traveled from out of state to experience the festivities.
Officials urge attendees to plan ahead, follow posted detour signs and expect traffic delays.
Visitors are also encouraged to use public transportation, including Metro-North, when possible.
The annual event is one of the highlights of the Halloween season in Westchester County and is expected to bring large crowds to both Tarrytown and neighboring Sleepy Hollow.
