OVERNIGHT
It will stay dry and comfortable overnight, with lows in the lower to mid-50s paired with a southwest breeze around 5 to 15 mph. You should only need a light jacket at worst into Friday morning.
DRY STREAK CONTINUES
We are at 12 days and counting since measurable rain here on Long Island. Check out some rain statistics for the month below. As of now, the next best chance for any sort of steadier rain may hold off until next Thursday or Friday of next week.
HALLOWEEN FORECAST
Saturday is still looking like a nice day for all Halloween activities. Expect dry weather throughout the day. We'll see a mix of sun and clouds, with afternoon temperatures generally in the 50s, possibly reaching close to 60 degrees. Expect some clouds but no rain, with temperatures in the lower 50s during the early evening before gradually cooling into the 40s later at night. Sunset on Saturday will be shortly before 6 p.m., so make sure the kids have reflective clothing, glow sticks or flashlights to help drivers see them. Drivers should also slow down and use extra caution in neighborhoods with trick-or-treaters.
CLOCKS 'FALL BACK' THIS WEEKEND
Daylight saving time comes to an end early Sunday morning! We'll turn our clocks back one hour at 2 a.m., giving us an extra hour of sleep. It's also a great time for an important home safety reminder. Test all your smoke alarms and carbon monoxide detectors, replace batteries if needed and check the expiration dates on your detectors. Smoke alarms generally should be replaced every 10 years, while carbon monoxide detectors should be replaced according to the manufacturer's instructions. It's also a good time to check your fire extinguishers, review your family's fire escape plan, make sure your heating system is ready for the colder weather and check your outdoor lighting and timers. With the time change, sunset Sunday will be shortly before 5 p.m., meaning it will get dark much earlier during the evening commute and after-school activities.
