New Yorkers receiving unemployment benefits will see their payments delayed as the state overhauls its unemployment insurance system.

Recipients will be unable to receive or apply for benefits for nine to 12 days while the upgrade is underway. All online and phone unemployment insurance services will also be unavailable.

Officials say recipients will receive their payments once the upgrade is complete.

Career centers will be open virtually from Tuesday through Nov. 27, but staff will not be able to answer unemployment insurance questions. Appointments are required.
