Voters at a polling site in Yonkers are expressing frustration after saying they weren’t informed that voting machines were down until after they had already received and filled out their ballots.
Several voters told News 12 they were upset that poll workers did not notify them of the issue beforehand, leaving them feeling like they had little choice once their ballots were completed.
One woman said she took time off work to vote and felt her time was wasted. Others raised concerns about their ballots being placed in orange bags instead of being scanned into the machines.
For many voters, the frustration isn’t just about the machines not working; it’s about the lack of communication and uncertainty surrounding what happens to their ballots next.

Voting machine issues continued to frustrate Westchester voters on Election Day, with some residents questioning the emergency voting process and whether their ballots would be secure.
One Thornwood voter told News 12 she was so uncomfortable with the situation that she voided her vote and plans to return after work to try again.
County officials say they are aware of the problems, are working to address them, and continue to urge residents to vote, assuring them that all ballots will be counted.

The Board of Elections has identified the cause of the issue in Westchester and is working to restore scanner access at every poll site. New Yorkers, this will not impact your vote. Keep going to the polls and filling out your ballots. Your vote matters, and it will be counted.

Voting is continuing across Westchester County despite a countywide problem with voting machines at polling locations, according to the county Board of Elections.
The board is instructing poll workers to check voters in and provide them with ballots. The ballots are being placed in orange bags while technicians work to resolve the problems.
The bags will be sent to the Board of Elections at the end of the night. Those ballots will be counted first, before ballots cast through the machines.

The Westchester County Board of Elections (BOE) is aware of an issue involving paper ballots that is preventing voting machines from accepting ballots at polling locations throughout the County. The Westchester Board of Elections wants to reassure every voter that your vote matters, your ballot will be secure and your vote will be counted.
The Board of Elections is in constant communication with New York State officials, Westchester County Government and poll workers to address this issue and ensure that voting continues with as little disruption as possible. In the meantime, voters should continue to complete their paper ballots as instructed by poll workers. Ballots will be placed in designated orange emergency ballot bags, which will remain secure and monitored. These ballots will subsequently be counted in accordance with applicable election procedures.
We strongly encourage all voters to remain in line, exercise patience and, most importantly, cast their ballots.
The BOE sincerely apologizes to voters and poll workers for the inconvenience this situation has caused, and the BOE recognizes the importance of a smooth and efficient voting process. They are taking every necessary step to address the issue as quickly as possible.
Let us be absolutely clear: Every eligible vote will be counted. No voter should be discouraged from participating in this election because of this issue. Your voice matters. Your vote matters. Please stay in line and vote.
