The 27th Annual Bronx Puerto Rican Day Parade will be held this weekend.
Organizers and participants met today to announce the theme of this year's parade, which will be Puerto Rican folkloric culture. Over 100 cultural groups are set to participate in the parade, which will include food, music, drinks and dancing.
The founder of the parade says it is an honor to the participants' forefathers, who came to the U.S. looking for a brighter future for their children. Participants say they're proud to celebrate not just their Puerto Rican heritage, but also their borough.
The parade will be held Sunday at 1 p.m., and will run along the Grand Concourse from 192nd Street to Van Cortlandt Avenue East.
