A group of West Nyack homeowners and business owners filed a lawsuit Monday against United Water over past flood damage.
The 28 plaintiffs believe millions of dollars worth of damage from an April 2007 storm is due to the utility company, not Mother Nature.
"We intend to show the floods were caused by the release of stored water in the reservoir rather than from the rainwater," said attorney Kevin Mulhearn.
The plaintiffs complain that their Klein Avenue homes and Route 59 stores have been flooded with up to 4 feet of water more than once.United Water has denied such accusations in the past. A spokesperson said the company cannot comment until it receives a copy of the suit.
