Clarkstown police have apprehended three Queens men accused of shoplifting thousands of dollars worth of clothing and cologne from Woodbury Commons and the Palisades Mall.

According to police, the three men, John Espinosa, 23, Kenny Molina, 19 and Luis Roldan, 22, began their $6,000 crime spree at Woodbury Commons and continued on to the Palisades Mall.

Cops say Gap security guards from Woodbury Commons noticed the suspects taking property out of stores and putting the items into the back of their vehicle. The security guards followed the men as they quickly left Woodbury Commons, but soon lost track of the suspects. The guards continued to the Palisades Mall where they say they discovered the vehicle in the parking lot. Clarkstown police were then called and the vehicle was put under surveillance. Soon after, police say the suspects emerged from the Palisades Mall with more stolen merchandise and the arrests were made."[The Gap guards] had the foresight to come to the Palisades center because that's a usual method of operation for the professional shoplifters to move from one mall to the other," says Sgt. Harry Baumann, of the Clarkstown Police Department, commending the Gap security guards.

An investigation revealed that the men were allegedly using a device to remove the security tags from clothing. Police say the men also had a ?booster bag,? which is a lead-lined bag used for getting through security alarms in stores.

Charges against the men include grand larceny, possession of stolen property, and conspiracy, along with other misdemeanors. The suspects are now detained at the Rockland County Jail.
