Three dogs found in a van in Cortlandt Manor are still looking for homes.
The SPCA Westchester says humane officers received complaints about a van people could hear dogs in.
The officers went to a home in Cortlandt Manor where the van was located. They were told the puppies had been rescued recently from a puppy mill in Pennsylvania.
The SPCA says it does believe that's true, but investigators are still trying to figure out how long the dogs were kept in the van. The SPCA says charges could be possible. It's all still under investigation.
They say the animals were found in horrible conditions, with a few dogs so poorly treated they had to be sedated and shaved. One crate had four dogs in it, and they were on top of each other. All of the animals received medical care and are doing well.
Most have new homes, but there are three left: an older Yorkie, an older Shih Tzu and a young goldendoodle.
Those interested in adopting them can stop by the SPCA any day from 12-4 p.m.
