Five Rockland County villages are looking into sharing services in order to save taxpayer money.
Village of Nyack Mayor-Elect Jen White is spear-heading a proposal that would have Nyack and four other villages join forces to save money.
Nyack, Grand View, Piermont, South Nyack and Upper Nyack have agreed to look into combining or sharing some municipal services within departments like police forces and public works.
White says Nyack is getting a$50,000 state grant in January to pay for a review that would outline areas of overlap, where the municipalities could save.
White says the villages can opt in or out at any time. As for when the changes could be implemented, she says it'll likely take months once the study is complete.
