Ceremonies were held in Orange and Rockland counties Friday to honor the local victims of the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks.
In Montgomery, people marched under the weeping sky at Thomas Bull Memorial Park in memory of the 44 residents of Orange County who perished eight years ago.
Hundreds of people also gathered at Haverstraw Bay Park to mourn the 79 Rockland County residents who lost their lives in the World Trade Center.
The names of the victims were read aloud as children placed flowers at the memorial. The community also honored firefighter and Ground Zero volunteer Bill Harris, of Pearl River, who died of a heart attack last September.
