Strong winds and chilly air have made the air feel ice-cold all around the region. Temperatures were getting to dangerously low levels Tuesday morning in Western Ulster County, as feels like temperatures dipped to as low as 25 below zero.
We won't be seeing temperatures getting to those levels tonight, but it will still be a very cold night all across the region. The further north and west you are from the NYC area, the colder it will feel, especially up in the Catskills. Wearing layers is key to avoid catching a cold or worse. Thankfully, going through the day Wednesday will involve less harsh winds around. It'll be breezy but not as high as it was today or Presidents Day.
There are still talks of a coastal storm impacting the tri-state area Thursday. The models have been trending to keep this system offshore and today has been no exception. If you are not a fan of snow, or are just over winter weather (raise your hand... I'll join you), then you are likely loving this news. But there will still be some snow to be concerned with. We won't get out of this without a scratch.
We are expected to see snow showers come Thursday afternoon to the evening hours. While it will not add up to much, a coating at best is likely, roads could still be slick for that Thursday evening commute home.
Friday has more sunshine and sadly more winds. But after that, the weekend will roll our way and along with it, nicer weather. Temperatures will slowly get milder through Saturday into Sunday with a mix of sun and clouds. Temperatures get back to being around normal levels Sunday and will stay that way throughout much of next week.
