Peekskill police are planning on additional gang training after recent violence in the area.
Mayor Vivian McKenzie and City Manager Matt Alexander posted video online saying officers will do a gang resistance program called "GREAT" that works to "immunize" kids from gang violence by bringing officers into the classroom to teach.
McKenzie and Alexander also say the county's Mobile Crisis Team is now working in Peekskill to help with mental health emergencies.
As News 12 reported, a man fired gunshots on Main Street, injuring two women in a car. McKenzie and Alexander say they don't have an update on that incident since it's an ongoing investigation, but they do say there will be a community meeting this week for people who live near Lepore Park. They are still working on a date and location.
