An Amazon delivery driver from Rockland County was honored for her heroism Tuesday night.
Brianna Tuckey sprang into action last month to alert a family after she spotted flames shooting from their home in Blauvelt.
“It was dark and there was smoke behind the house, and I pulled into the driveway, and everything was on fire in the back, so I pulled back out and called 911, I had my headphones in. And as I was on the phone with the police station, I was at their door as well," she says.
No one was not hurt, but the home was destroyed.
Tuckey was honored for her efforts by the Haverstraw Town Board with a plaque and a citation from the New York Assembly.
“When you’re presented with an emergency, I think it’s at that point when somebody’s true character shines through, and you did what you had to do. Your true character was to get involved and to save people, save lives and do what you could do to make the situation better," said Assemblyman Ken Zobrowski.
Brianna Tuckey is the daughter of Haverstraw's own Officer Tim Tuckey.
