Brooklyn Borough President Antonio Reynoso hosted the 2024 State of the Borough to discuss the work that’s been done in Brooklyn so far and his plans for what’s to come.

Attorney General Letitia James, public advocate Jumaane Williams and Reynoso took the stage on Wednesday night in front of around 500 attendees to celebrate the borough’s accomplishments over the last two years. Reynoso started his speech by addressing how he plans to combat hate in the borough.

"Hate is festering in the city," said Reynoso, citing Asian hate, homophobia, antisemitism and other forms of hate. "The only thing that’s going to make a real difference in the long run is the institution that teach empathy, integrity and understanding."

Reynoso also discussed all the things he is looking to continue to push, like the West Indian Day Parade, food and clothing distributions and more housing for those in need.

Moving forward, Reynoso says that his office will be doing more community service events in the coming months.
