Apparent shots fired at Kensico Cemetery prompted massive police response
An apparent shots fired incident at Kensico Cemetery during an interment service prompted a massive police response Saturday afternoon in Valhalla.
Mount Pleasant police say they received 911 calls about a shooting at the cemetery at around 3 p.m.
Mount Pleasant police officers responded to the scene close to Tower Gate located off of Grasslands Road.
Authorities say shots rang out at the end of the interment ceremony.
Police who arrived at the scene detained several vehicles to determine if any of the occupants witnessed the shooting or if they were involved.
The Westchester County Department of Public Safety, the Greenburgh Police Department and other agencies also responded to the scene to assist.
The investigation determined that around 20 shots were fired. No one who was left at the scene was struck by the gunfire.
