The Archdiocese of New York is deciding which struggling parishes are closing and it looks like a Bronx church will be on the list.St. Mary's in Williamsbridge will reportedly be told it will be closed. The decision would mark an end to a process that lasted several years. Several churches and schools such as St. Rita of Cascia and St. Dominic's raised enough money or pared down their services so they would not be at risk of closing.Last spring, the Archdiocese announced nine Catholic schools would close. The goal of the realignment was to respond to changing demographics. In some areas, the Catholic population moved out and in others there was a boom that local parishes couldn't handle. The Archdiocese of New York covers the Bronx, Manhattan, Staten Island and seven counties upstate.
