Arlington fire officials: Water rescue team locates missing 5-year-old boy submerged in drainage ditch

The search for the boy began Sunday afternoon at the Manchester Gardens apartments in Arlington.

Town of Poughkeepsie police launched an investigation Sunday night after a missing 5-year-old boy was found submerged and unconscious in a drainage ditch.
The search for the boy began Sunday afternoon at the Manchester Gardens apartments in Arlington.
The Arlington Fire District says a search was launched involving firefighters and water rescue technicians.
According to a news released sent to News 12, the rescue technicians entered a body of water near the apartments and located the missing child submerged in several feet of water, unconscious and not breathing.
It was not immediately clear as of Sunday night how the boy entered that body of water .
Officials said the child was immediately removed and turned over to EMS personnel.
The boy was transported via Arlington's ambulance to Mid Hudson Regional Hospital where he was receiving continuous advanced life support care as of Sunday night.
News 12 was told police officers during the time of the search went from door to door, even looking into the trunks of vehicles.
