Carmel Town police say an armed man who held them at bay for approximately five hours was arrested.
The incident unfolded around 10:30 p.m. Monday at 149 East Lake Blvd. in Mahopac.
According to police, a resident told them that a neighbor had brandished a black handgun in a threatening manner before retreating into his apartment complex. As a precaution, police evacuated nearby apartments and attempted to establish contact with the man via phone, but their efforts were unsuccessful.
Westchester County police eventually managed to gain entry to the apartment and took the individual, identified as 23-year-old Nicholas Buccheri, into custody.
Buccheri was charged with menacing and criminal possession of a weapon.
Police recovered an imitation handgun at the scene.
