Where did Frosty the Snowman don his magical hat and come to life one day? That depends on who you ask.

The catchy holiday tune about the playful snowman was written in 1953 by Steve Nelson and Walter Rollins. Nelson lived in Armonk for nearly three decades and now, community leaders and residents there are hailing their village as the birthplace of Frosty.

Back on Dec. 11, Armonk held a parade to welcome Frosty back to his hometown. But nay-sayers claim the song may have been written in White Plains, or even somewhere in West Virginia.

Armonk residents say Nelson would often visit their village square that's decked out with holiday decorations every year. They say it's the very same square that Frosty ran down to, saying, "Catch me if you can!"

One local frame shop has transformed into a Frosty museum. Its owner has on display the original sheet music and the original record sung by Gene Autry and more.
