A person who threated to shoot up a school in Sullivan County on the first day back to class has been arrested, school officials say.
News 12 obtained images of the threats that Eldred Central School District officials say were shared to Instagram and were circulating among students.
One shows a firearm with the caption, “Snitches go first.” Another read, “If they push school to the 9th instead of the 5th, I promise everyone will be safe. Do you want people hurt? It’s your call.”
Both threats tagged the district but didn't name a specific school building.
Eldred District Superintendent Traci Ferreira confirmed the arrest to News 12 but wouldn’t say if the person charged was a student or if authorities deemed the threat credible.
School started Tuesday as scheduled with an increased law enforcement presence.
News 12 contacted the Sullivan County Sheriff’s Office for more information but has not received a response
