An arson investigation is underway in Orange County after a woman's car and home were set on fire.
That incident happened one week after state police say the victim's tires were slashed by her ex-boyfriend.
The victim's car was charred, and the side of her home was burned after the overnight arson on Jupiter Drive in Monroe.
A source close to the investigation tells News 12 that the suspect is the victim's ex-boyfriend who allegedly used accelerant in a gas can to start the fire while she was sleeping inside with her parents.
Neighbors saw the commotion Wednesday – less than a week after state police confirm they arrested Nicholas Fontane for allegedly slashing the young victim's tires in her driveway.
A source tells News 12 that Fontane is the victim's ex-boyfriend.
He was charged Friday with felony criminal mischief and released on an appearance ticket.
While he may be wanted in connection to the arson, state police are remaining tight-lipped and will not comment on if a suspect is in custody.
The victim and her parents were not injured during the fire.
News 12 was told the victim was granted a restraining order to protect her last week - days before the overnight arson.
