Beacon is now the first Hudson Valley municipality to ban fossil fuels in new buildings.
The City Council voted in favor of the ban during last night's meeting.
All new buildings and major renovations are required to have all electric construction.
This applies to those constructed as early as next year.
The move is aimed to address the climate crisis and rising energy bills.
