A Dutchess County man was arraigned yesterday after police say he imprisoned and beat his girlfriend in Pound Ridge over a 12-hour period more than a week ago.
Michael Doyle, 51, of Beacon, is charged with assault, however, police say additional charges may be filed.
Pound Ridge Police Chief David Ryan says the victim, whose identity has not been released, lived on a dead-end residential street in town. Ryan says any time she tried to escape by locking herself in a room, Doyle would bust it down and beat her again. Doyle also allegedly took her cell phone and ripped her home phone off the wall.
The Pound Ridge Justice Court and the Westchester Family Court have issued orders of protection against Doyle.
Doyle is being held on $50,000 bail. He is due back in court next week.
