A bear who developed a social media following in Northern Westchester has died after it was struck by a car in Connecticut.
Dubbed 'Bear 211' because of its pink ear tags, the bear had a storied past in Armonk. Many people have a story to tell about the mischievous black bear.
Many residents tracked the black bear's movement between Westchester and Fairfield County in Connecticut through a Facebook page that has nearly 5,000 members.
Bear 211, who was 1 1/2 years old, was struck by a car in Easton, Connecticut on Monday.
The bear was so badly injured that police say it had to be put down.
While Bear 211 was loved, it's important to note they can pose dangers to humans and pets. Experts say you should never attempt to touch or feed a black bear.
