Ben & Jerry’s Ice Cream could be getting a new name. Co-founder Jerry Greenfield quit the ice cream brand after 47 years.

It is due to a disagreement with Unilever, who the pair sold their company to 25 years ago.

Part of the deal was they would keep the autonomy to pursue their values.

News 12 has been told Greenfield and Ben Cohen recently asked Unilever to spin off their former company so it could operate independently, and Unilever said no – denying it’s silencing of the co-founders.

Greenfield and Cohen grew up together in Merrick before launching the iconic ice cream brand.
