The bill to rename the Gov. Mario M. Cuomo Bridge is living to fight another day.
The bill was not held in the Transportation Committee and now has another shot to move to the Assembly floor for a vote.
The bridge has been officially known as the Gov. Mario M. Cuomo Bridge since it officially reopened in 2017. Then Gov. Andrew Cuomo named the bridge in honor of his father, New York's 52nd governor.
Millions of New Yorkers are pushing for the name to go back to the Tappan Zee Bridge.
With indigenous and historical roots, this was the name of the original bridge that was once there.
