State police positively identified the body of a man found in the trunk of a car in Newburgh as a Yonkers man.
According to police, a group of teenagers discovered 46-year-old Franklin Fitts after smelling a foul odor emanating from the trunk of a car. Police say Fitts is a victim of homicide and was probably killed on Friday. Fitts' friends say he was known for drugs and hanging around with people who sold drugs.
Family members say Fitts had most recently been living with a friend in Middletown. Police are not disclosing how he died.
