A Hudson Valley boy who was viciously mauled by his pet pit bull spent Tuesday playing video games as he nursed wounds.
Jade St. Vil, 9, was in the living room when his brother says the family's dog turned on the boy Sunday. The dog gashed the boy's forehead and ripped his tear duct. Quick-thinking saved Jade's life.
"First thing I did was take him in the kitchen and took some paper towels and told him to hold it to his forehead and I went upstairs to my mother's boyfriend and told him to hold it," said the victim's brother, Austin Ambrose. "I called 911 and when they came they said if I didn't hold the pressure he could have bled to death."Jade's forehead is bandaged and he's temporarily wearing sunglasses due to the injuries.
His mother is thankful she still has her young son. According to Victoria Ambrose, the dog may have been abused before they took it in. The animal will be euthanized. Police said they've responded to two past reports of the pet attacking people.
Jade said he now wants a black Labrador.
