Gov. Kathy Hochul says the Breeders’ Cup World Championships will be held at Belmont Park in Elmont in October 2027.

This will be the first time the race has been held in New York in more than 20 years.

It was previously held at Belmont in 2005.

New York state and the New York Racing Association, Inc. are currently redeveloping Belmont Park, with a $455 million capital construction project.

The multiyear project to build the new Belmont Park is expected to be completed in September 2026.
