While most little kids are thinking about what they'll get this holiday season, students at Bridgeport's Columbus Elementary School are focused on giving.
"Our teacher said it's important to give to others and that's what we did, by collecting cans of food," said seventh-grader Joshua Aguilar.
Mark Napoli, who works at the school, organized the food drive.
"It's really great to see little kids thinking about others and not just themselves this holiday season," said Napoli.
Students who took part in the food drive helped load canned food onto a van sent by the Thomas Merton Family Center, a nonprofit that provides food and other free services to the community.
"It was wonderful to see how excited the kids were to help others," said Bill Colson, who used to run the Merton Center and still works there as a consultant.
