A 35-year-old Bridgeton man pleaded guilty Thursday to the aggravated sexual assault of a young girl he met on the internet, according to the Mercer County Prosecutor’s Office.
Prosecutors say Alex Torres-Lopez used Snapchat and Roblox to contact the 12-year-old, who he repeatedly met in Trenton for sex during the fall of 2025.
He also had the victim send him pornographic images and videos of herself.
The investigation was launched in January 2026 after Special Victims Unit detectives were informed by Trenton police that a child residing in the city had been sexually assaulted.
Prosecutors say the state will recommend Torres-Lopez be sentenced to 20 years in prison without parole eligibility.
He would also be required to undergo an evaluation at the state Adult Diagnostic and Treatment Center in Avenal, be subject to parole supervision for life and have to register as a sex offender.
