Broadway theaters are extending their mask mandate through the end of May, as cases in the United States are on the rise once again. But in turn, they will be relaxing their vaccine requirements.
This comes as New York deals with two new Omicron subvariants and Broadway being a hotspot for people from all around the world.
The Broadway League says they’ve made this decision with safety at the top of their mind.
The league says this mask requirement applies to all 41 Broadway theaters and will be in effect through May 31.
They also shared that starting on April 30, theaters will be given the option to stop checking vaccination status.
The league says that come to the end of May, they’ll re-evaluate the mask requirement and then announce what the plan will be for June and beyond.
