Bronx baseball players picked for Catholic League All-League teams

Seven Bronx players were honored to round out the Catholic League?s All-League baseball teams.
Fordham Prep?s Paul Blejec. Blejec hit .455 with two homers and 18 RBIs and helped the Rams finish second in the Bronx-Westchester division. St. Ray?s Chris A. Gonzalez was also selected. Gonzalez shined in the CHSAA All-Star game and went (1-1) with an RBI, walk and run. Fordham?s Mike McDonnell made the cut. He hit .453 with a homer and 20 RBIs for the Rams. Mount pitchers Albert Baez and Keith Malanga were also selected to the squad. Cardinal Hayes? first baseman Sandy Rodriguez, who will play at Boston College in the fall, and catcher A.J. Pagan made the Bronx-Manhattan team.
