? A 10-year-old boy is in critical condition after he was hit by a bus on Jerome Avenue at W. Mosholu Parkway Thursday.
Witnesses say Eliseo Oller appeared to walk into the path of the Bee-Line bus.
"He wasn't even looking ... I had to rush over there and, you know, just hold onto him," Good Samaritan James Adeola said. "Took my jacket and used it to cover his head until the ambulance [came]."
Oller suffered a head injury, broken bones and is on a respirator, according to his mother. The fifth-grader was initially taken to St. Barnabas Hospital, but was transported to another facility.
The boy's parents claim they have been fighting for their son to get bused to school, rather than walk. However, the Department of Education said Oller is ineligible to be bused to school. The DOE also maintained it never received an appeal from his parents.
Police say no charges will be filed against the bus driver, but he will undergo routine alcohol and drug testing.
