Dozens of vendors
and restaurant owners gathered in Crown Heights to celebrate Juneteenth through
music and food on Saturday.
Event organizers
Black Owned Brooklyn and the Weeksville Heritage Center say the festival is
aimed at honoring the past while creating new traditions in the present.
Twenty different Black-owned food
vendors offered cuisine from across the African diaspora, serving foods like
South Carolina fried chicken and biscuits, Jamaican patties and plantain ice
cream.
The Juneteenth
food festival will continue Sunday from 12 p.m. to 7p.m.
